Fellowships
Each semester, we offer select graduate students exclusive opportunities to participate in fellowships in conjunction with our industry partners. Fellowships range from applied topics, such as developing social media or sustainability communications plans for corporate partners, to theoretical research in subjects including public health social marketing and cause marketing.
Fellows work closely with CSIC and our partners to create case studies, white papers and other original materials that support practitioners and continue to define the evolving role of communicators in today's industry.
We welcome ideas for future fellowships from students and partners alike. Please contact the center with any suggestions.
Current Fellowships
Communicating With Veterans
In partnership with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, a CSIC Fellow is currently researching communication practices aimed at increasing veteran employment. The current theory is that the challenges to veteran employment are veterans' ability to translate their skills, employers concerns about deployment and deployment-related disabilities, and employers' ability to find veterans to hire. Communication is a vital part of addressing these challenges. Improving current communications between veterans, veterans' service organizations, and government organizations will result in veterans positioned as a valued and untapped employee resource pool.
The study will be informed by a review of veterans employment studies, existing legislation, media analysis, and in-depth interviews with government organizations and veterans service organizations.
CSIC is pleased to award the fellowship opportunity to Sunset Belinsky, a current student in the PR/CC masters program. She is a major in the U.S. Army, where she has been working in public affairs for nearly ten years. Sunset has experience in internal communications, media relations, speech writing, and communications planning in the U.S., Kosovo, and Afghanistan.
