The Center: Tell us a little bit about your career path?
Currently, I freelance in communications. I enjoy the challenge and the creative control. Upon completion of the PRCC program this December, I would like to make the transition to an agency or nonprofit in the district.
The Center: What advice do you have for social impact professionals who are job hunting?
Look for work that you are genuinely passionate about. It makes waking up for that job worthwhile.
The Center: What can someone be doing now to ensure they secure a position similar to yours?
Considering I freelance, it is important to know what your strengths are. It makes selling yourself to prospective clients easier.
The Center: What is your best piece of career advice?
Ask questions. Never stop asking questions. Make the unknown known.
The Center: It could be in a career, school or volunteer capacity – What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
This year, I became a cause consultant. It was a challenging course that helped me learn more about myself so I could better serve others.
The Center: You completed our Cause Consulting course in Summer 2017
I took the course in the summer of 2017, so time management was a critical skill given the length of the semester. Beyond that, learning about the three hats, business development and managing client expectations were very useful.
The Center: A huge thank you to you, Julian, for taking time out of your busy day to share your insights with our students! We can’t wait to see what else your future holds.
